Tribune Publishing Is Weighing a Surprise Offer from Gannett (Poynter)
An announcement of a bid for Tribune Publishing from Gannett for $815 million was met with obvious surprise by Tribune. Tribune’s ambition to build global brands would seem to run smack into the Gannett strategy to consolidate the industry, finding efficiencies on the business side and creating a network on the editorial side that exploits the journalism of individual newsrooms.
